Breighton Airfield, Yorkshire, April 2023 |
I last visited Breighton in 2001 and what hasn't changed is the amazing variety of aircraft, old and new, and the friendliness of everyone there – I got introduced to the boss of the BBMF who was also visiting. The place is owned and operated by the Real Aeroplane Company and the Real Aeroplane Club. |
What has changed is that the new clubhouse has opened, and it seems to be attracting lots of fly-in visitors. It's large, light and bright with good views onto the airfield, and the catering was excellent despite the kitchen not yet being in operation.
I visited on 1st April, a gloomy day with a strong crosswind over the only runway, so very little was happening. The day after was bright and calm, and the place was buzzing all day long. I'm looking forward to a return visit. NOTE: I did go back in June for a visit by the Vintage Aircraft Club. Many photos there complement those on this page. |
